Lyla Medeiros' Fellowship

What a week! Meeting DHC Fellows and Staff, a Newberry Library tour, a performance by Jennifer Munson, DHC workshops and mentoring, Thodos Dance Chicago assessment and a tour of the Chicago Film Archive. DHC workshops included job hunting advice, a great overview of all the components that make up archive collection processing and hands on practice with accessing the state of a dance company’s archive collection. It was a whirlwind week. I’ll also mention that just days before I packed up everything I own and am now living out of two suitcases! Next up on this adventure: Los Angeles, CA.

UCLA here I come!

My name is Lyla. I’m a 2013 Dance Heritage Coalition Fellow. I graduated with a Masters in Library Science from Indiana University in May. I trained as a ballet dancer and have been teaching ballet for 15 years. On this site I’ll be blogging about my experience as a DHC Fellow and about the work I will be doing for the Fellowship.

I hope you will enjoy reading about my experiences. Please feel free to leave comments and questions.
